Further to our comment on Philip Liebenberg leaving SIM, we got confirmation this morning that he will be joining Abax Investments in August. Philip worked with Abax portfolio manager Omri Thomas before, when Omri was Chief Investment Officer at SIM.
Philip will be joining the multi-asset team at Abax, where he will contribute broadly to their multi-asset and income process. His primary responsibility will be to manage their absolute return portfolios, which includes the Abax Absolute fund and a range of institutional absolute return mandates.
We consider Philip a very capable portfolio manager and think this is a positive development for Abax and their multi-asset team.
