We recently completed our review of the Baillie Gifford Emerging Markets Leading Companies Fund and have upgraded its rating from Tier 3 to Tier 2.
Baillie Gifford is a long-standing independent investment business with an established investment philosophy.
In our previous assessment, we noted that while the fund was managed by a strong team within a supportive business, it lacked clear differentiation from a passive equivalent. That concern has since eased. We now see a more consistent pattern of active decision-making that we think will add value over time.
A Tier 2 rating reflects our view that the fund is well-positioned to deliver positive long-term outcomes for clients, while acknowledging a few minor concerns.
