There have been significant changes to Kagiso’s investment team over the last year with 7 new arrivals and the departure of Ross Heyns, one of the investment analysts. The majority of the new recruits join as Analyst Associates, a new role created in the investment team to assist the investment analysts with building the models and other research. The new investment analyst is Dirk van Vlaanderen who joined in February 2014. He joins after over 7 years working on the sell side in London.
Given Kagiso’s focus on covering both local and offshore equities using their fundamental bottom up approach, it is a positive to see the team expanding, but we will need to monitor how the new arrivals settle into the team and how the current investment team adapts to being part of a larger unit.
