When we initially rated this fund (Tier 3) it was performing well and the rating was an outlier in the minds of many clients. Subsequently it has experienced very poor performance which has resulted in SIM repositioning the fund by restricting exposure to emerging markets (an inherent bias in the fund previously). Notably, Kokkie Kooyman is no longer the fund manager, with this responsibility falling to Douw Steenkamp. We retain our Tier 3 rating for now, however will revisit this fund to gauge these changes in more detail.
