Investec Asset Management announced several structural and team changes to their funds effective 1 May. Rhynhardt Roodt, who co-managed the SA Equity & Multi-Asset team with Chris Freund, has been promoted to co-manager of Investec’s 4Factor global equities team in London.
As a result Rhynhardt has resigned from his position as co-portfolio manager on the local general equity and balanced strategies to take up co-management of 4Factor’s global equity mandates. Samantha Hartard, sector head of industrials, replaces Rhynhardt as co-portfolio manager on the local funds, which includes the Investec Equity fund (currently rated Tier 3). This change also impacts the rating on the Investec Worldwide Flexible Fund which is currently going through the review process.
Investec has also brought in Hannes van den Berg who will be focussing on the pending launch of their long/short equity hedge fund. Hannes is from Fairtree Capital, where he co-managed their equity market neutral and equity long/short hedge fund strategies.
We will be reviewing the changes, however for the time being the Investec Equity Fund will retain its Tier 3 rating. Since our first review in 2013 there have been a number of material changes to the fund and process.
