Manager Research
all members of our manager research team have over ten years of investment experience.
In October 2016, Old Mutual SA (OMSA) and Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) announced that Diane Radley, Chief Executive Officer of OMIG had resigned. She lead the investment business for the past six years. OMIG reported that Radley had decided to leave so that she could spend more time with her family while continuing with her passion of growing responsible businesses.
In our research, we always consider any change in a business, team or process very carefully. OMIG have gone through various organisational and team changes in the past and we will be monitoring the ever-evolving situation at OMIG as a replacement CEO is sought out. Investors need to be cognisant that new people at an institution such as OMIG can often mean large changes to business direction. Diane was a key component in the change to the current boutique business model that OMIG operates and a new driver of the business may look to change that. We have seen no evidence of this changing yet. While no clarity has been provided yet on Diane’s successor, we suspect that Hywel George may be being earmarked to take over the CEO role. Hywel is the current director of investments at OMIG and, in our opinion, him taking over would be a continuation of the same at OMIG.
