Sanlam Investment Management (SIM) recently announced that Nersan Naidoo, the CEO of Sanlam Investments has resigned. As a result of Nersan’s resignation, Carl Roothman, the current CEO of the Sanlam Investment Group - which comprises Sanlam Investments, Sanlam Specialised Finance, Sanlam Investments UK and Sanlam Private Wealth will extend his responsibilities and maintain oversight of SIM. In addition, Natasha Narsingh has been appointed as head of the SIM Active Management business unit from 1 April 2023. Natasha currently managed the SIM Inflation Plus Fund, which we rate Tier 2, and is also head of the Absolute Return franchise. Given the demands of her new role, we expect some changes to the team structure within the Absolute Return franchise. We are monitoring the implication of this change. In addition, we will be meeting with SIM in the next few months as part of our rating review cycle and will provide an update in due course.
